Back in the Swing USA® is a grassroots, national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving and protecting well-being after breast cancer by supporting education for consumers and healthcare providers; personalized, comprehensive, survivorship clinical healthcare; and academic medical research. When Back in the Swing began in 2000, no comprehensive, personalized, integrative medical services for breast cancer survivors existed. This past August, 12 years later, the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) announced that a survivorship care plan and survivorship support are among the standards of care required for hospital cancer programs to receive accreditation.
