With the help of JCCC, Back in the Swing is bringing its message and lessons of the Back in the Swing Lifestyle to the community in a one-of-a-kind experience never before available to healthcare providers and the general public.

The sessions will incorporate the five essential, evidence-based elements of the Back in the Swing Lifestyle:

  1. Survivor-specific medical care
  2. Movement
  3. Nutrition
  4. Positive emotions
  5. Relaxation/mindfulness

The Back in the Swing Cookbook and Companion Guide serve at the text books.

Classes will be held in the demonstration lab at the new JCCC Hospitality and Culinary Academy. The curriculum will feature cooking demonstrations from the cookbook and experts in each of the five essential elements.

Content delivery partners include the Breast Cancer Survivorship Center at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, the nation’s first comprehensive, multidisciplinary breast cancer survivorship center, founded in 2007 with the help of Back in the Swing.

Those completing the class will receive a certificate of completion from Johnson County Community College.

The inaugural class will be held in fall 2014.  Watch for more information to come at www.BackintheSwing.org and www.jccc.edu/ce.
