Blue Devils Getting Back in the Swing!

Under the guidance of Nurse Practitioner Kathy Trotter, MSN, CNM, FNP, Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a unique, weekly “group appointment” just for breast cancer survivors. Members of the group measure their own blood pressure, pulse and weight and write down their readings on their own chart. They use notepad computers to answer questions about their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. The women meet with a nutritionist, a social worker and a physical therapist.

Back in the Swing recently met with Trotter to learn about the Duke Breast Cancer Survivor Clinic, and to share the models of breast cancer survivorship care created in Kansas City.

Back in the Swing also met with the marketing managers of shopping centers in the Raleigh-Durham area to discuss plans for holding a Back in the Swing Retail Therapy shopping event in October 2010.
