Empowerment

Empower yourself and your family to understand how your unique breast cancer experience impacts your lifelong health.

With post-treatment care just being provided for the first time in many communities, it is important for you be proactive. If your community lacks this new kind of comprehensive, coordinated, individualized healthcare, don't let that compromise your quality of life for the rest of your life. Tell your medical providers that you know that not getting this kind of healthcare increases the risk for cancer recurrence and other medical complications such as heart disease and osteoporosis, as well as depression and anxiety.

As you receive post-treatment care, you will teach the medical community "what works" in post-treatment care, in order to arrive at evidence-based recommendations 2, 5, 10 and 20 years or more after treatment ends to give you and all breast cancer survivors the best chances of good health and wellbeing.
